Days of Yonder
- In early 2016, Dutch artist Nienke Lit sold most of what she owned and took up residence in a former prison. This simplification was part of a greater plan to streamline life in preparation for an upcoming road trip and art project - a three-month motorcycle jaunt through the American West and a grand collaboration of creative women -Days of Yonder. We met up with Nienke in Silver Lake at the end of the ride as she prepared for the production and exhibition phase of D.O.Y. 

 The Truth Will Set You Free
- Truth & Janey, and guitarist BillyLee Janey, are names routinely dropped in conversations concerning early, influential heavy rock groups and guitarists, particularly those that remained relatively unknown. The band's only full-length studio album, 1976' No Rest for the Wicked quickly sold out of the 1000 copies printed and self-released by the band on their Driving Wheel label, but despite their hard road work, grander success eluded the group. By the end of the decade, the band had vanished from the radar as swiftly as they appeared, their hallmark album living on as a raw heavy blues milestone.

In late August of last year, BillyLee, his son Bryce and drummer Eric Douglas brought Truth & Janey back to life on the stage at Psycho Las Vegas, seemingly opening a new chapter for a band that never broke out as big as they should have. We caught up with BillyLee for a bit of reminiscing on what could have been, and what may still lie ahead.

Blowout on Broadway
- "It’s early Monday morning, around 4 a.m. and I can hear the shrill clanging of spoons from the far end of the house, part of an extended jam involving various guests and some of the Radio Moscow and Sacri Monti guys that has taken an eccentric turn since it’s inception a few hours prior. The Malahierba dudes have clocked out on the couches in the garage, and a small powwow mutters on in the larger bedroom off the kitchen. The first edition of Denver Electric Funeral is in the books, and the crux of what made the event (as is the case with many artist-run events) so remarkable is obvious to all, those still kicking or otherwise: the community. Despite some big names, inflated egos are non-existent and the denouement feels just like that of a favorite institution: the classic house party."
